Blogabet was hacked today about 11:00 CET by Chinese hackers.
We took the site down about 1 hour later, but blogs were active up until around 16:00 CET.
Site and blogs were infiltrated with malicious code that was redirecting to a Chinese site and installing a Troyan named TR/Dropper.Gen [trojan]
This is rather old virus and the following anti-virus programs were able to detect and neutralize it without problems: NOD32, Avast, Avira, AVG. We believe every other up-to-date popular anti-virus program like Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, Panda, BitDefender, F-PROT etc. should have provided protection as well.
So in simple words, if your computer was protected by good anti-virus program, you should have got warning when visiting Blogabet and/or the blogs today between about 11:00 to 16:00 CET
If you haven't received any warning, it's highly likely that your computer is not protected well and you may have a lot of infections, including the Troyan from today. | Last night MySQL crashed badly just an hour before an automatic back up was scheduled. The crash was rather bad and timing was also very bad. So earliest healthy backup we had was from 7th of April and it is restored now.
2 days data was lost and we are still investigating the cause. Sorry!!!
| We have now 2GB more RAM on server and this Saturday we will see if it is enough to handle the peak traffic on weekends.
